Common menstrual disorders can include excessive
menstrual bleeding, missed periods, painful periods and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
Excessive menstrual bleeding occurs in about 20% of women at some point in their
lives. This is often related to hormonal changes such as the changes that take place during menopause.
Excessive menstrual bleeding can cause anemia, which can in turn create excessive tiredness, low energy or fatigue.
This issue can often be effectively treated with birth control pills, IUD insertion or a procedure called 'uterine ablation'.
Missed or absent menstrual periods are another commonly
occurring menstrual disorder. The most common cause of a missed menstrual period is pregnancy. It can also be related
to hormonal disorders or low body weight. Together we will investigate the possible causes of missed or absent periods
in your situation and work with you to create a plan for getting your body back on track (or begin prenatal care!).
Painful menstrual periods are also a
common problem. Many women experience cramping or other discomfort during their periods. This can be effectively
treated with a broad range of herbal, dietary, physical or medicinal remedies.
Premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, can occur for some women. This can include
bloating, breast pain, fatigue, constipation, irritability, crying or sadness and other mood changes. PMS
can be effectively treated, also with a wide range of options.
